A dated current comparison, not buying power

Twenty verifiable fortunes, one random local draw

Each completed housing year can now use the same reviewed top-20 pool. The calculator randomly selects one person in your browser, translates the current estimate into the selected year's dollars with CPI-U, and divides by that year's annual median new-home price.

Read the comparison carefully

A stock-to-price scale, not a purchase rate

The visitor's result says how many years of CPI-adjusted gross income equal one median new-home price under an all-income assumption. The wealth result says how many of those same homes equal one dated net-worth estimate after CPI-U conversion.

It does not estimate how many homes a person buys, how quickly wealth grows, investment returns during the visitor's income-years interval, cash available, taxes, liquidity, or purchase feasibility.

Forbes describes its real-time list as a frequently updated estimate. Housing Time Machine freezes the values below so a result remains reproducible and always displays the valuation timestamp.

The current-dollar conversion uses the active June 2026 CPI-U anchor, the latest CPI observation in the housing snapshot. That anchor predates the July 27 wealth valuation by about one month.
