Tyler Ian Blanchard operates and maintains Housing Time Machine as an independent researcher and publisher. The project is not affiliated with or endorsed by the government agencies, Freddie Mac, or Forbes.

Purpose

One narrow question, with visible limits

The site compares the national annual median sales price of new houses sold with a visitor's CPI-adjusted gross household income. It does not represent existing homes, local markets, mortgage qualification, a complete ownership budget, or financial advice.

Editorial and data review

Public numbers must survive a source check

Housing inputs come from direct Census/HUD, Freddie Mac, and BLS material. Current wealth estimates come from a dated, manually reviewed Forbes top-20 snapshot. Each active housing release is immutable, hash-verified, schema-checked, and tested against selected official reference values before publication.

Automated tools assist with implementation and verification, but they are not accepted as a numerical source. Missing or unpublished values remain unavailable and never become zero.

Corrections

Corrections create a new reviewed release

A source revision, calculation correction, or material wording change is reviewed against the direct evidence, covered by regression tests, and recorded as a new release decision. Historical snapshot files are not silently overwritten.

Possible errors can be reported through the site's public contact and corrections channel. Include the page URL, the value or wording in question, and a direct source when available. No response time or requested outcome is guaranteed.
